Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Engineer to take a leadership role in managing technical aspects of commercial construction projects. The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a critical liaison between design, construction, and management teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role involves overseeing project engineers, coordinating technical processes, and driving continuous improvement in project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership and Coordination:
- Lead technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design professionals to address technical challenges and maintain project timelines.
- Coordinate construction schedules, logistics, and deliverables with all stakeholders.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve design and construction conflicts.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and shop drawings to ensure timely processing and approvals.
- Oversee and maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, plans, permits, change orders, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure project management software and document control systems (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) are effectively utilized.
- Procurement and Cost Management:
- Assist with material procurement and vendor selection, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Support budget tracking, cost analysis, and forecasting to maintain financial control.
- Evaluate and manage subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to contracts and project specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior project engineers and other team members.
- Foster a collaborative and solutions-focused team environment.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Quality and Safety Assurance:
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with building codes, regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect work and enforce safety standards.
- Support the development and implementation of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and other stakeholders regarding technical aspects of the project.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities clearly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial construction
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Primavera, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and permitting processes.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with sustainable construction practices and LEED-certified projects.
- Strong analytical skills for cost estimation and budget management.
